This cartoon is funny/not funny, because as we in NY state get told part of our teacher evaluation is going to be based on "value added" (student growth/progress shown), this is the real problem. How does one assess fairly in art class? I've been teaching 34 years, and I still don't have a good answer. Thanks for sharing the cartoon.
I'm not an art teacher, but even when I give my students specific criteria that I use to grade their work, they and their parents always think they should automatically get an A because they have always made As.
