Monet Paintings

- White Drawing Paper
- Colored Chalk/ Chalk Pastels
- White Tempera
- Pencils
- Monet references

Discuss Monet and his work. I had a few old Monet calendars that I like to use for references. Each child chose an image to use as their inspiration and drew a similar image of their own.

The students colored in their images using colored chalk dipped into white tempera paint. The results were a really nice textured and impressionistic look.

  1. Thanks for reminding me of an technique I haven't used for a while - we called them "chalk dips". I like the idea of using this process for a Monet lesson. Very cool.
