Kandinsky Color Theory

 Materials:
- Oil Pastels
- Rulers
- 12" x 18" Drawing Paper

I. LOVE. KANDINSKY. CIRCLES.

I've done this project .. a lot. (See here and here.) I just love it! They always turn out successful and they make an awesome display! (Don't mind the bottom left corner... I had to take it down to put into an art show.).. this one looks a little Chuck Close-y, eh?

Any who... looking at Kandinsky's Concentric Circles and studying color theory, the students measured and divided their paper into 3" squares. In each square they were to color concentric circles using a certain color scheme we discussed. I just love how vibrant these turned out!

The pictures do not do it justice!

  1. How do you get your elementary kids to not smear the oil pastels? I love oil pastels, but they ruin their pictures.
