Painted Vinyl Record Bowls

Materials:
- Vinyl Records
- Acrylic Paint
- Oven
- Metal Bowl
- Metal Pan
- Oven Mits
Super easy!

1. Paint your record.
2. Turn oven to 200 degrees.
3. Center record on top of bowl. Bowl right side up makes a more concave bowl, bowl upside down with the record laying on top, makes a more shallow bowl. Place bowl onto a metal pan.
4. Bake for 10-15 minutes. You'll start to see it melting.
5. Using oven mits, take pan out.
6. Press either in the center of the record if the bowl is right side up, or down on the sides of the record if the bowl is upside down.
7. Let set to cool!

  3. Did you put a primer on them before painting? Or a sealer after painting? Then oven? Going to have a go at this with my 4th-6th graders in art class

  4. DON'T use your home oven for this!!! The released fumes are highly toxic - you're dealing with PVC here, depending on what production year the record is, it could release additives that are prohibited to be used by now. So watch out - if you need to do this use sun-warmth, or hot water and do it outside with proper protection
