Let it Snow! Let it Snow!
Thought this would be appropriate in our negative 5 - 20 degree weather this week.
Adapted from Kids Artists.
Materials:
- 12" x 18" Black Construction Paper (Although, I wish I had black drawing paper)
- White Tempera Paint
- Oil Pastels and Construction Paper Crayons
The snowmen are made from thumbprints and decorated when dry. Add music notes and snowflakes!

Blueberries anyone?
To that we should have to defend what we do, but this does clarify why schools cannot be judged using a business model.
"If I ran my business the way you people operate your schools, I wouldn't be in business very long!"
I stood before an auditorium filled with outraged teachers who were becoming angrier by the minute. My speech had entirely consumed their precious 90 minutes of in-service. Their initial icy glares had turned
to restless agitation. You could cut the hostility with a knife.

Monday Comic
I have been terribly sick this past weekend, so this is a day late- Courtesy of Phyl :-)
On another note.. my husband and I bought our first house!! We close this Wednesday, so fingers crossed I'll be up and healthy, ready to move through our winter weather, and of course (perfect timing), before I go away for the weekend this Saturday.
Our internet won't be installed till later this month... which means no blogging! ahh!! I'll miss reading everyone's posts, even if it will only be a couple weeks. I'll update you soon with some pictures!

Art Joke
After hearing that the price of gas could reach $5.00 gal in 2012, I thought this was appropriate.
Price of gas in France
A thief in Paris planned to steal some Paintings from the Louvre. After careful planning, he got past security, stole the paintings, and made it safely to his van.
However, he was captured only two blocks away when his van ran out of gas.

Some Photos to Share
This school year I was moved into a new classroom. When I entered the room during the summer, I was overwhelmed with how empty and bare everything was. I knew I immediately needed to add some color and thought having my students make some permanent artwork would be the perfect opportunity.
These were paintings done by my 5th grade class. The students were broken up into groups of 7 or 8 and recreated a famous work using a grid method. We practiced the whole grid technique prior to their final painting. Check out the results which now hang in my room!
